Dravidian university was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh through a Legislative Act (N0. 17 of 1997) at Kuppam, a tri-lingual junction in the south-western part of Andhra Pradesh with the initial support extended by the Governments of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,Kerala for an integrated development of Dravidian languages, thus paving way for cultural and emotional integration among all the regions that carry forward the ancient historical torch of the nation. The U.G.C accorded recognition under 12B in 2007 and DEC (Distance Education Council) in 2008. Dravidian university offers the research programmes through two distinct modes given below: Off Campus Mode(Part-time only):Dravidian university through its Centre for Off Campus Education & Research is offers admissions into M.Phil & Ph.D Programmes in Off Campus Distance (Part-time) mode in the following subjects: Programmes Offered by the Centre with Course and Subject Codes:

By Post: One may send the necessary documents such as original certificates and admission fee along with the application form by post and seek admission.In such cases the candidate has to enclose self addressed envelop with necessary postage for returning the same by registered post.Please note the University cannot take any responsibility regarding the postal delays or losses in transit. Enrollment number: The programming Centre will assign an Enrollment Number to each student.Students should invariably quote their enrollment number in all their future correspondence addressed to the centre. Identity card: Students will be issued Identity Cards by the Centre after their admission.The Identity Card signed by the Director will be given to the students.Students are instructed to keep their Identity Card safely till the completion of the programme and must bring their Identity Card at the time of personal contact programme and examinations. Students who have lost their Identity Card can obtain a duplicate Identity Card from the Centre by paying a D.D.in favour of director,SDCE for Rs100/-along with the application form without which admission would be deffered. 3.RESEARCH GUIDE Qualifications of a Guide: For M.phil: A qualified guide to supervise M.Phil dissertation must possess Ph.D in the subject concerned in which the candidate is seeking admission. For Ph.D: A qualified guide to supervise Ph.D thesis must possess Ph.D in the subject concerned in which the candidate is seeking admission.He should also posess a total of five years experience,out of which 3 yrs should be after getting his/her Ph.D. Retired faculty are also eligible for guiding. The guides have to give an undertaking that they are willing to guide the students till the completion of the submission of the dissertation/thesis by the candidate and will not withdraw in the middle for any reasons and will not demand any additional remuneration from the candidates. The candidate need not pay any other agency or individual other than the fee prescribed by the university. Allotment of Students:
Remuneration: A research supervisor would receive an honorarium of Rs.2000/- & Rs.3000/- per candidate for guiding M.Phil & Ph.D works respectively after the thesis by the candidate. Academic committee will finalize the title. Academic Committee: Academic committees constituted for each subject by the University with senior scholors in the field would scrutinize the topics and synopsis provided by the student and would make necessary suggestions and changes. The changes and modifications suggested by the committee would be communicated to the students. In the matters of topic,the academic committee’s decision is final,the student has to make the necessary modifications in the Dissertation/Thesis accordingly. Proceedings: Proceedings would be issued to the students after the academic bodies approve the topic and the guide. The proceedings have to be kept safely until the completion of the course. A copy of the proceedings has to be accompanied by the examination application form and the Dissertation/thesis at the time of submission. Change of Guide: The details of the Guide provided by the applicant along with the application form at the time of admission are treated to be final.However,if there is any change with regard to Guide,the candidate has to submit the details of the new guide (qualified as per the university rules) such as consent letter,Bio-data and photocopy of the PhD Degree certificate-along with a covering letter to the university immediately.(Refer Annexure A) Change of Topic: The details of the topic have to be submitted by the candidate on the basic information sheet along with research proposal in the form of synopsis.If there are any changes in the topic at a later date it has to be submitted to the university in the form of a letter mentioning both the old and the new one.However,the topic would be finally approved by the university after placing it before the required academic bodies for approval.Only after the approval of the required bodies the changed status of the topic will be intimated to the candidate (Refer Annexure A).The change of the topic will be allowed only before of the part-I examinations are conducted. Change of Study Centre: Change of Study Centre is permitted once in a module under the following circumstances:
University reserves the right to change the study centre on account of low enrollments at a particular Programming Centre. The request for Change of Study centre should be made in the prescribed form only (Refer Annexure A)
4.CONTACT CLASSES Contact classes would be conducted at various places depending on the number of enrollment in that area by the programming centre.Attending the contact classes is compulsory. Those who have attended the contact classes would be provided with a participation certificate duly signed by authorized person.The candidates have to enclose a photocopy of the participation certificate to the examination application form.Applications accompanied by participation certificate only will be processed for Examination and only those candidates will receive examination hall tickets.Contact classes dates will be communicated later. 5.SYLLABI AND SCHEME OF EXAMINATION The M.Phil/Ph.D programme consists of two parts; Part-I Written Examination & part-II Dissertation. Written Examination: M.Phil Dissertation -200 marks Written Examination: Ph.D (Direct with PG) Minimum pass marks is 40% in each paper. Printed lessons will be sent to the students who have paid the fees in full through the Programme Cordinator of the respective centres. Examination: Examination application form Annexure-E can be downloaded from the website or can be had directly from the University.Examination fee details will also be available in the website and would also be communicated to the student. The examination application form should accompany;
The examination centre will be intimated along with examination hall ticket.Hall tickets will be sent by post to the students atleast 20 days from the commencement of the examination.If any candidate who has provided necessary enclosures to the exam application form and did not receive Hall ticket before one week from the date of examination,they should contact the office immediately to know the examination centre.These candidates can have their duplicate hall tickets at the examination centre on production of identity card and a passport size photograph. Hall tickets: Hall Tickets for the examination will be sent to the candidates through the Programme Coordinator atleast 15 days before the commencement of the examinations.The scholars should obtain their Hall Tickets,schedule of examination from the chief superintendent of the Examination centre as fixed by the University three days before the commencement of the Examinations. Examination Centre: The Examination Centre will be fixed by the University. Results: Results copies will be available in the programming centres after publication of the results.The results of the students will also be available in the following websites: Revaluation of Answer Scripts: There is a provision for revaluation of answer scripts of all the examinations by payment of prescribed fees. Candidates who desire revaluation of answer scripts should send the requisition in the prescribed form to the Controller of Examinations of the University by paying Rs 500/- within 20 days from the date of publication of results. Pending declaration of the results of the revaluation,the candidates may register for the 6. DETAILS OF SUBMISSION OF DISSERTATION: The research work completed under theguidence of a specified guide has to be submitted any time after the completion of the minimum period of time mentioned in paper III. If the submission is delayed beyond the specified maximum period, the student has to pay penal fee which would vary from time to time. Five copies of dissertation/thesis should be submitted to the Director,SDOCE,Dravidian University,Kuppam-517 425.Dissertation/Thesis can be submitted either in person or through post along with the stipulated adjudication fee.Spiral binding for the Dissertation/Thesis is not permitted. The Dissertation/Thesis should be submitted only after completion of University M.Phil/Pre-ph.D written examinations and publication of the result. In the event of the return of the dissertation/thesis,the concerned candidate has to revise/rewrite as per the suggestions made by the external examiner and resubmit it There will be a Viva-voice for Ph.D; for M.Phil candidates there is no Viva-voce. Marks statement and Provisional certificate: The COER will send marks statements / Provisional certificates to the students immediately after receiving them from the Controller of Examinations of Dravidian University. Degree Certificate: A press notification with regard to the convocation will be given by the Registrar,Dravidian University. The students can obtain the prescribed form from the office of the controller of examinations and apply for Degree Certificate. For those who do not attend the convocation ( in absetia) certificate will be sent directly to the students after the convocation. However, there is in-advance facility to obtain Original Convocation degree by paying an extra fee for the certificate as and when required by the students. Change of Address for communication: If there is any change of address for the communication provided with the application form, the candidate should immediately inform the new address to the University in a letter clearly starting both old & new addresses. The letter should also accompany 5 self addressed, stamped ( Rs. 10 postage each) envelops.( Refer Annexure D). 7. FACILITIES AVAILABLE: 1) Enquiry Cell: The COER, Dravidian University, Kuppam established an enquiry cell for student enquiries. 2)Fax Facility: For immediate Correspondence,Please contact the office through fax : +91 8570 278230. 3)Library: The students can also make use of the central library of the University during the working hours with the permission of the University authorities. 4)Helpline Facility: The following help-lines are established for providing needful help to the students. Helpline for M.Phil & ph.D:9396681367 5) Email & Cell Phone Registration: As the off campus part time scholars would be spread out all over the country, unless there is an attempt from the students to know the status of their admission and other details from the office, there may be communication lapses. To set right such kind of communication lapses the centre is introducing an innovative method called E-mail and Cell phone registration. The scholars can register their E-mail addresses and Cell phones numbers in the website which would be stored in the University server. When there is some communication to be done to the scholars the system will automatically generate E-mails & SMS to the mobile phones.
